Senior Program Manager

Chrissy Sa (she/her) is a senior program manager for the economic security and mobility team at Blue Shield of California Foundation. Chrissy is a passionate community builder with a deep understanding of systemic inequities. Her lived experiences as a Cambodian refugee and woman of color fuel her commitment to dismantling systemic oppression and fostering racial equity.

Throughout her career, she has leveraged her strategic thinking, compassion, and collaborative spirit to empower communities. This includes:

  • Managing multimillion-dollar grant portfolios focused on creating quality jobs, decriminalizing poverty, and building educational equity for youth and families
  • Building strong relationships with grantees and fostering trust-based philanthropy practices to maximize impact
  • Championing youth leadership by securing funding for mental health support, teacher development, and career opportunities in BIPOC communities

Prior to philanthropy, Chrissy was a New York City public school educator at a Bronx middle school where she learned about the deep needs of communities that extend beyond the classroom. In her work, she strives to uplift communities through collaboration and leadership development, advocates for trust-based philanthropy that centers the voices of those most impacted, and tries to create a more equitable future.

Chrissy was raised in the Bay Area and has lived in San Diego, Los Angeles, and New York City. She loves to cook for family and friends, read fantasy and sci-fi novels, and walk her dog, Bear. Chrissy believes in the power of collaboration to create a more just and equitable world. She deeply believes that our liberation is all connected and that we are the ones we have been waiting for to create a world where love, care, joy, and healing is the foundation.
