Award Types
The Foundation awards grants for project support and provides limited general operating support grants through an invitation-only initiative process.
Project Support Grants
The majority of Blue Shield of California Foundation grants funds go to specific projects that address issues relevant to our three Program Areas of funding:
Organizations whose projects address one of our three Program Areas, and who meet our grant eligibility guidelines are welcome to apply
General Support Grants
The Foundation currently provides general operating support through an annual invitation-only initiative process. Eligibility criteria for general operating support awards are set by Foundation staff. Past general operating support grants have been awarded to organizations that meet a pre-defined set of eligibility criteria, and include:
- Licensed community-based or free clinics providing direct primary care services to uninsured populations
- Shelters providing services to victims of domestic violence.
