Blue Shield of California Foundation

Our Programs

Blue Shield of California Foundation strives to address core social and health problems to dramatically improve outcomes in the next several years. Through our grantmaking and initiatives, we forge partnerships to meet the needs of underserved populations and seek to catalyze change in the policy arena.

To effectively address core problems, Blue Shield of California Foundation focuses its grantmaking on two program areas and supports innovative projects that aim to improve the well-being of Californians.

Health Care and Coverage

Blue Shield of California Foundation promotes the goal of universal coverage with an emphasis on shared responsibility. Until this goal is reached, the Foundation continues to support key healthcare safety net programs that address the immediate needs of uninsured Californians.

Domestic Violence Prevention

The Foundation believes that ending domestic violence requires a strong, coordinated network of services and supports, as well as new knowledge about how to reach the highest-need populations.  It also requires the creation of a unified policy agenda. Through grantmaking and operating programs, we are working to strengthen California's domestic violence safety net.
