In September 2008, Blue Shield Against Violence hosted a Capacity Building Training Institute at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (CPEDV).

2007
In September of 2007, Blue Shield Against Violence hosted a "Think Tank" session for participants at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (CPEDV). This session was built around survey data received from nearly 65 percent of Blue Shield of California Foundation's Shelter Initiative grantees.
The general organizational development portion of the survey was based on the book, "Lifecycles of Nonprofits" by Susan Kenny Stevens, PhD. We are grateful to Dr. Kenny Stevens for permission to use her work.
The policy capacity assessment questionnaire was used with permission from the Alliance for Justice in Washington, D.C. The questionnaire was developed for foundations to guide them in evaluating the benefits of their support. Again, we received special permission from the Alliance for Justice to adapt their questionnaire for use in an online survey.
