Domestic Violence Workplace Resources

The workplace resources found on these pages were developed by the Blue Shield Against Violence workplace training program. From 1996 through 2008, this program helped California employers make practical and effective responses to domestic violence.

As the leading private funder of domestic violence programs in our state, Blue Shield of California Foundation's support is essential to frontline programs like the 100-plus shelters and DV service providers that provide a critical safety net for hundreds of thousands of survivors.  Beginning in 2009, the Blue Shield Against Violence program area will bolster longtime core support grants with new grants to support capacity-building and leadership development in the field. Our strategic focus will be on developing a stronger, more coordinated response and prevention system to end domestic violence in California.

Given this new focus, we will no longer offer domestic violence workplace training efforts in 2009.

Since its development in 1996, the workplace training program has built a critical mass of support for addressing DV in the workplace, attracting nationwide corporate engagement on this issue.  Where we were once the primary player, a host of other groups have now assumed leadership - a testament to the importance of the issue and the success of our collective efforts. We are proud of our accomplishments and honored to have worked with our collaborative partners including Family Violence Prevention Fund, Corporate Alliance to End Partner Violence, Macy's, and others in this important area.

Content for this site was provided by Blue Shield of California Foundation, Family Violence Prevention Fund and the Corporate Alliance to End Partner Violence. Dr. Carol Ann Peterson of the Peterson Professional Alliance provided additional content.

Domestic violence doesn't stay at home when a victim goes to work. Disruption and danger can follow a victim into the workplace.

These resources provide coaching and additional information to managers and employees who have attended domestic violence training provided by Blue Shield Against Violence. If you suspect a coworker is a victim of domestic violence, you can help. It's good for the company, for the employees, and for our communities.
